515bhp Mk5 GTi Sprint Car

The Regal Team and our race driver, Tony Gilham travelled to the infamous Laguna Seca race track for this years Redline Time Attack. They were met by GIAC and VF-Engineering to prepare a car for the shootout.

The result was a 515bhp Mk5 GTi!

The Track prepared car uses the same race derived AST suspension system as our Championship winning VW Cup car and an engine build very similar to that of the RSR kit with forged rods and pistons.

This car is an exersise in seeing just what is possible from these engines and proves that with the VF-Engineering turbo kits huge power figures can be achieved.

NOTE: Graph shows power ''at the wheels''. This equates to 515bhp at the flywheel!

The car went on to win the FWD Street legal class and was the only car to lap another car in its class that day!

Further then that it went on to beat the winner of the next class by some 6 seconds!

Street car Dyno Results!

Had the car on the dyno today, tweeked it up from the 15psi a little, but we wanted to keep an extra level of safety in it - chris drives this thing hard everyday!

also the slightly lower boost level takes into account the comming winter months, although it might peak at 20 psi now on a 0 degree evening you might see anything upto 23psi.

we're building this to be reliable... not to chase numbers.....

The next step...

The kit arrived from VF-Engineering and we wasted no time in fitting it up!

and here's some pics of other additions... carbon grille piece, mirrors and b pillars... aswell as the reiger front lip :D

Initial Modifications

The Car was Collected Mid August and is currently being prepped for a VF engineering GT28RS Big Turbo kit....
